Recommendations, please!

Hey, mate, listen. Yeah, you. Come here, mate. Listen, you got to help me. Just, I mean, my life is tits-up right now and I need help. Just one more hit, get me? Listen, if you can do this for me I know a man that can help you with anything, yeah? With anything. Oi, don’t walk away . . . OI!
Yeah, probably should work on my characterisation a bit more, eh. Anyhow, there is a purpose to this tomfoolery and it is ask those still with any interest in this hive of neglect for new anime recommendations. My life really has been hectic lately and I haven’t kept one eye on the new stuff as I usually do when I don’t post anything for months. Needless to say, the incessant repeats of Family Guy on BBC3 aren’t really sating my need for animuationz. So, bearing in mind my taste (bleak, hyperactive, bizarre, saccharine . . . so anything, really), lay some recommendations on me for the newer series out there. Danke schön~

Not recent:

Otherwise, recent:
Kurozuka (ureshii fansubbed)
Otherwise, if you’re mad, not-at-all recent but jaw-droppingly japanese weirdism : Gosenzosama (same team)
Keep up the good work, mate.

Damn, I know where you’re coming from. Between work, more work and, er, more work I’m practically a hermit at the moment myself. You do know the third ep of Eve is out already, right? Beyond that I’m not sure how much help I can be. I’m leaving the new season for a couple of weeks while I catch up – I still have Toradora to start and one or two shows on DVD to review so I haven’t checked out any of this season yet at all. Seriously. White Album is getting a lot of attention but the lukewarm reaction probably says more about the majority’s shock at seeing a slice of life show (“Nooo! It’s just characters talking!” etc). It has my interest at least. Ride Back seems particularly interesting, what with the student protest background and the fact that it’s about a gal on a motorbike that turns into things. I’m hoping for a cross between Kino’s Journey and transformers or something.
The one sure thing I would recommend above all others though is the second season of Natsume Yuujinchou. If you haven’t watched the first one yet there should still be time before the second starts. Ah, sod it. Assuming links work on your comments box, here’s the full list that UK-A’s Trav posted:

I owe him a pint for that.

@Radio!: Ta very much for these recommendations. Anything by Production I.G that I haven’t seen is put down as top-priority – especially it looks pretty bananas like Windy Tales. I’m actually slowly catching up with Kurozuka at the moment. It’s definitely on the Shigurui side of feudalist Japanese fantasy, which is my preferred variety I have to say.
@Martin: Yeah, I had intended to blog episode three as soon as I watched it (I wanted to keep it as my sacred, I-can’t-neglect-you-beautiful cow) but alas no. Thanks for the wee briefs on those series, though. Trav’s forum post is also highly informative (and nostalgic – I haven’t been on those forums for donkeys years!).

Just the time! I’m currently trying to promote Kurenai, which seems to be very underrated — despite being a great series.

@Lehq: Worry not, Lehq – I’ve seen the whole of Kurenai and loved it. I’m surprised you think it’s underrated, though. It seemed like the real underdog success of that season.
